I’m in a season of life where I constantly reflect: “Am I living out the purpose God intends for me?” In previous life seasons, I had the capacity and access to mentor and encourage others directly. Now, although my heart remains unchanged, my capacity and access have shifted. This has led me to question what fulfilling my purpose truly looks like right now.
Different season
What season am I talking about, you ask? For me, that is building a family, a career, and making sure my personal well-being is not left on the back burner. Combining these can feel like a lot. I know you may not be in the same season as I am but you might be juggling a few things of your own, pushing you into unfamiliar territories. You mastered the previous season of your life, and all of a sudden, you are in a different phase. A phase that may require completely different tools, mindsets, and resources to level up. I understand.
Same vision
Navigating new seasons means adapting, but it doesn’t mean letting go of your purpose. The core vision remains, even if the approach changes. So how do you pursue your purpose when your circumstances shift?
Dig into your toolbox and pick an approach that comes naturally to you. One that you can use without reinventing yourself. In new seasons, let reflex be your best friend. Use the skills that are already at your fingertips. Talents you mastered in previous seasons. That’s what I’m doing now.

Dig up your buried talents.
In past seasons, I could meet young women and girls, speak to them, create outreach programs, and all of that. In this season, I cannot do that, but what I can do, and what I love to do, a skill I am blessed with, is writing. So the approach is different, but through this medium, I hope to achieve my purpose of empowering, uplifting, and challenging others. I get the opportunity to journey through life with others through a buried talent. It gives me peace because I can do that without tormenting myself with the idea that I can’t accomplish what God has put me here to do.
Different approaches
So what am I saying? Let’s recognize the seasons we are in, dig into our toolboxes, and pick up the skills we can easily use to do what we need to do. There will be other phases in life where more will be required, where we have to use advanced skills, push harder, and work smarter. If you’re in that season, go for gold. But if your season requires you to put more effort into building a family or a job (these in themselves can be your exact purpose) and you feel that purpose is calling you to something else, it’s okay to use buried, unhurried untrendy approaches.
Let reflex be your friend.
The season might look different for me, the approaches definitely not the same, but the vision, the heart behind my writing, is still the same. To inspire, to challenge, and compel others to live resiliently, through my journey and faith.
Now your turn. Let the prompt below guide you.
